WE AREN’T WAITING FOR THE PERFECT PLACE
TO START BUILDING SOMETHING THAT MATTERS.
Healing Wild Hearts currently operates from leased space within an existing boarding facility. It gives our horses a place to call home and gives us something equally important: a place to begin.
Now we are working to make that space safer, more functional and better suited for the horses in our care and the people we hope to welcome beginning in Spring 2027.
WE HAVE A PLACE
TO BEGIN.
THE BUILD
THE POSSIBILITY IS ALREADY HERE.
NOW WE HAVE TO BUILD FOR IT.
This isn't a finished sanctuary. It is approximately 2.5 acres of leased space within a working boarding facility, with existing stalls, fencing, open ground and plenty that needs attention.
But look a little closer and you can see what we see.
Room for horses to move. A round pen for groundwork. A quiet place for the ponies. Space where people can learn, connect and simply spend time with an animal who asks nothing of them.
THIS IS WHERE
WE BEGIN.
WE BEGIN.
Where We Are Today
A WORKING VISION
Every improvement begins with the horses already in our care, while creating the foundation for the people we hope to welcome here beginning in Spring 2027.
Safety comes first.
THE GOAL ISN'T TO BUILD MORE.
IT'S TO BUILD WHAT MATTERS.
This conceptual rendering brings together the elements we are working to design and build within our leased space. It is not a final site plan. Exact designs, dimensions and locations will evolve as we work through safety, feasibility and what works best for the horses.
We know what this space needs to do. Now we are beginning to imagine what it could look like.
WHAT COULD
THIS BECOME?
THE VISION
the Immediate Work
Heading
BEFORE WE BUILD FOR WHAT IS POSSIBLE,
WE TAKE CARE OF WHAT IS HERE.
Move hay and grain from the existing stall into secure, organized storage designed to reduce fire risk and protect feed from rodents and other pests.
FEED + HAY SAFETY
Improve protection from North Texas heat, storms and winter weather while preserving the open space our horses need to move.
SHELTER + SHADE
Repair unsafe sections, address loose and deteriorating wire and strengthen vulnerable areas along the perimeter.
FENCING + GATES
Address areas where water and mud collect to create safer, more stable footing for horses and people.
GROUND + DRAINAGE
WE WANT TO BUILD THEM A WORLD THEY CAN SAFELY EXPLORE.
Pony Haven will be designed around the unique needs of the ponies who call it home, including blind horses who rely on consistency, touch, scent and memory to safely understand their surroundings.
The space will include four protected stalls, including a specially designed stall for Goose, along with safe, dry footing and clearly defined pathways. Different textures and thoughtfully placed scents can help our blind horses learn and recognize where they are, while consistent placement of water, feed, shelter and other features helps them navigate with confidence.
Because some of these ponies will not safely roam the larger property, Pony Haven also needs to be a place where they can move, explore and engage with their environment. Enrichment areas, scratching and grooming stations, varied safe surfaces, shade and places for quiet interaction will give them more than somewhere to live.
Pony Haven
THESE AREN'T COSMETIC IMPROVEMENTS.
THEY ARE THE FOUNDATION FOR EVERYTHING THAT COMES NEXT.
Some of our horses have needs that make their environment especially important. We are also working with aging infrastructure, areas where water and mud collect, fencing that needs attention and feed storage that was never designed for what we are doing here.
Before we can build programs, we have to take care of what is directly in front of us.
SAFETY COMES FIRST.
PRIORITY 1
As Healing Wild Hearts grows, so can the possibilities.
An arena. Additional pasture options. Expanded storage. Rainwater collection. Better pathways and lighting. More spaces where people and horses can safely come together.
KEEP DREAMING FORWARD.
SOMEDAY
Add enrichment and training areas that give horses opportunities to move, explore and learn.
Increase shade and weather protection where needed.
Continue improving drainage, footing and the areas where horses and people spend time together.
Create comfortable places to sit, observe, learn and connect.
CREATE MORE WAYS TO THRIVE.
PRIORITY 3
PRIORITY 2
THESE ARE POSSIBILITIES, NOT PROMISES.
WHAT WE BUILD WILL ALWAYS BE GUIDED BY NEED, SAFETY AND RESPONSIBLE GROWTH.
Improve the existing shed row with safer flooring, lighting, fans and weather protection.
Create a solar-powered sanctuary cabin for check-ins, training, medical needs, storage and gathering, with a secure feed room attached.
Improve the grooming and tie area and create a practical wash station.
MAKE THE SPACE WORK BETTER.
THE VISION IS BIG.
THE WAY WE GET THERE IS ONE PURPOSEFUL STEP AT A TIME.
We don't have to build everything at once.
We have to make the right improvements in the right order, beginning with safety and building from there.
BUILDING IN PHASES.
